What Are the Ambassador Levels?
Ambassadors can be one of four types: Nomadic, City, Country, or Global. All Ambassadors start as City or Nomadic Ambassadors. As they become more experienced and dedicated, they may choose to become Country Ambassadors. A small number of those will become Global Ambassadors who are our most dedicated volunteers.
Nomadic Ambassadors
Description
Nomadic Ambassadors are experienced travelers for whom traveling has become a lifestyle. As avid travelers, they may have multiple places of residence and/or be constantly on the move. They are CouchSurfing field agents, and act as connectors between the many local community they visit.
Duties
To be of service to the membership, Nomadic Ambassadors are encouraged to join and participate in one or more of CouchSurfing's volunteer teams in order to perform at least one of the duties listed below. Most Nomadic Ambassadors contribute at least 10 hours per month. We expect from nomadic Ambs to participate actively in the following tasks:
- New Member Welcome
- Local Events Organizing
Requirements
There are two different paths for somebody to become a nomadic Ambassador!!! See below:
Nomadic PATH A:
1. Have NO PERMANENT RESIDENCE, or be traveling for an extended period of time (6 months +)
2. Have been a City Ambassador at least 4 months 3. Have at least 10 successful hosting/surfing experiences 4. Have at least 10 positive references 5. Have at least 10 vouches, including one from an verified member (at level 3)
6. Have been active within the registered CITY community within the last 3 Month´s. 7. Have created at least 2 CS meetings in the registered City
8. Have the possibility (and will use it) to log in at least once a month.
If you live in a less popular area that hasn't given you the opportunity to meet the above requirements, we may be able to make an exception
Nomadic Path B:
1. Have NO PERMANENT RESIDENCE, or be traveling for an extended period of time (6 months +)
2. Have at least 30 successful hosting/surfing experiences 3. Have at least 30 positive references 4. Have at least 10 vouches, including two from verified members (at level 3) 5. Have created at least 4 CS meetings
6. Have the possibility (and will use it) to log in at least once a month.
7. Have been a member for at least 9 months
City Ambassadors
Description
Like all Ambassadors, City Ambassadors serve CouchSurfing members around the world and serve the global community. At home and wherever they go, they promote the values that embody "the CouchSurfing spirit". City Ambassadors are also the voice and ear to their local community, and source of information for all the members of their local community.
Duties
To be of service to the membership, all Ambassadors are encouraged to join and participate in one or more of CouchSurfing's volunteer teams in order to perform at least one of the duties listed below. Most City Ambassadors contribute at least 10 hours per month. We want to make sure all Ambassadors love what they do. Please always feel free to ask for help. You can contribute in many ways according to what interests you the most. We especially recommend the following teams for City Ambassadors:
- New Member Welcome
- Local Events Organizing
- City Online Group Moderation
- Verification Processing
Requirements
City Ambassadors must meet the minimum requirements for all Ambassadors:
- Have been a member for at least 4 months
- Have at least 10 successful hosting/surfing experiences
- Have at least 10 positive references
- Have at least 3 vouches, including one from an Ambassador or a verified member (at level 3)
- Have created or attended at least 2 meetings in their City.
- Have been active in their City for at least the last 3 months.
- Have the possibility (and will use it) to log in at least once a month.

Country Ambassadors
Description
Country Ambassadors are experienced and dedicated Ambassadors. Country Ambassadors are not only the voice and ear to their local community, but a source of information and guidance to the City Ambassadors.
Duties
To be of service to the membership, Country Ambassadors are encouraged to join and participate in one or more of CouchSurfing's volunteer teams in order to perform at least one of the duties listed below. Most Country Ambassadors contribute at least 20 hours per month. We especially recommend the following teams for Country Ambassadors:
- City Ambassador Outreach and Mentoring
- Regional Events & Outreach
- Events Messages Approval
- Online Groups Ideas & Concerns Collecting
- Online Groups Management
Requirements
- Have been an active City Ambassador for at least 3 months
- Have at least 10 successful hosting/surfing experiences
- Have at least 10 positive references
- Have at least 6 vouches, including one from a Country or Global Ambassador
- Have the possibility (and will use it) to log in at least once a month.
Global Ambassadors
Description
Global Ambassadors are our most dedicated volunteers who have demonstrated their ability to lead other volunteers. Global Ambassadors are a source of information and guidance to the Country Ambassadors.
Duties
To be of service to the membership, Global Ambassadors must be supervisors of one or more of CouchSurfing's volunteer teams in addition to performing one or more of the duties listed below. Most Global Ambassadors contribute at least 10 hours per week. We especially recommend the following teams for Global Ambassadors:
- Country Ambassador Outreach and Mentoring
- Regional Events & Outreach
- Unsolicited Email Prevention
- Volunteer Team Supervision
Requirements
- Have been an active Country Ambassador for at least 6 months
- Have at least 20 successful hosting/surfing experiences
- Have at least 20 positive references
- Have at least 15 vouches, including one from a member of the Leadership Team
- Have the possibility (and will use it) to log in at least for once a month.
