About Me

There is no better way to embrace and celebrate our differences than opening our doors to someone different and sharing a nice meal and deep conversations with them. Couchsurfing has been this amazing tool that allows me to not only show kindness and hospitality to a stranger but also get to learn about their culture, life experiences, and see the world through their lenses.

I go by Rami. I was born and raised in Morocco before moving to the US . I am a simple person who deeply believes that altruism is one of the best ways to achieve true happiness and the highest most noble purpose of life. That's why I do lots of volunteering work to give back to the community and to make this world a better place. Below are some of the organizations I am currently volunteering with.

-The Human Library:
The Human Library challenges stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. It is a safe place where people are books on loan to readers for a chat. The goal is to address people's prejudices by helping them to talk to those they would not normally meet. Our books have many titles such as: transgender, domestic violence survivor, rape victim, HIV+, refugee, alcoholic, etc.

- The Immigrant Welcome Center:
At the center we mobilize all resources available in the area to newcomers and put them in the right directions to a quicker independence and a smooth transition. It could be signing them up in English courses, finding them lawyers, health care, domestic violence complaints, preparing them to the citizenship test...

- Indiana Diapers Bank:
We receive donations from big companies, then we bundle and distribute diapers to families that are in need.

- The US Citizenship and Customs Services:
We oversee and facilitate swearing in new American citizens in the court at an official ceremony led by a judge or an officer from the US Citizenship and Customs Services.

My philosophy of life is living up to:

be kind to everyone
having an open mind
live authentically
love unconditionally
find and question our deepest assumptions
wonder, imagine, and dream...
become self-aware
keep asking why
really listen to people
wisdom is greater than technology
cooperation is greater than competition
overcome fear... take risks... make mistakes... and keep learning :)

Fort Wayne is not the hottest destination, but if you ever were to visit the city, I'd be more than happy to host you 😊.
