About Me

**At the moment I can't spend a lot of time during the week, but I might be able to host you. Please take into account that I'm not home a lot during the day. Week-ends are a bit less busy, but I'm trying to fill my calendar all the time ;)**

Technically, I am a physicist turned into a software engineer that got hooked on seeing the world bit by bit. My job can be exhausting, but it is still interesting (, sometimes complicated,) work that pays the bills well. I am much more driven by outdoor activities though, such as getting in shape for advanced hiking treks, training how to sail a boat, letting loose on a festival and maybe taking a picture along the way.

Actually, screw maybe! I really love taking pictures with my camera. It lets me capture the beauty of nature, life, the human condition and touching moments, which I hope to share with friends and family. Nowadays I always carry a camera with me just in case there is a scene that itches to be photographed. And scratching that itch feels just sooo good

2025:
- planning two weeks in Japan
- probably going to organize a 1 week sailing trip in Croatia

2026:
- total solar eclipse in Reykjavik + two weeks in Iceland

Some short term goals:
- hike in the dolomites
- get into a routine for planning trips solo, and with friends
- sleep in a tent on a mountain
- save up for a home cinema
- set up lights and backgrounds for portraits at home
- buy a drone for those sweet photos from above
- fill my home with printed pictures
- collect a couple of favorite recipes in my head that I know so well I don't need to think about them

Some long term goals:
- see a capybara from up close
- gaze at the northern lights
- participate in a husky tour
- visit an active volcano
- see a glacier
- improve my spanish to be fluent, and forget about french
- pet a wolf
- sail on a wooden schooner
- walk the way of st. james
- jump from a plane
- maybe use a parachute next time
- learn wind surfing
- join a safari tour and take pictures of wildlife
- get into astrophotography

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I can't travel on my own, couch surfing allows me to "travel" virtually, by bringing like-minded people and their stories to me. I really like the concept, because you get to see your own city through the eyes of someone new to it. And learn something new, simply by tagging along.

My first couch surfing experiences were with very delightful hosts and I had a great time with my guests as well. I'm actively stepping out of my comfort zone and enjoying myself quite a bit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indie, Rock, Punk, (Melodic) Metal, Synthwave, Electro Swing, Psychedelic, lots of good music out there. It'd probably be easier to list the stuff I dont like.

Movies: Scrubs, Futurama, American Dad, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Vox Machina, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Helluva Boss … if you think you see a pattern: yes, animated series are lovely.

Books: somewhat limited to technical literature. It is what it is
