About Me
**Hi there!**
I’m Jan, a cheerful and curious person from northern Germany, now calling Hamburg my home. I originally trained as an automotive mechatronics technician, but my fascination with nature and its mysteries led me down a new path—I’m now studying biology and currently writing my bachelor’s thesis in mycology (yes, mushrooms are cooler than you think!).
When I’m not diving into the world of spores and fungi, I’m an active and sports-loving guy. I’ve been training Wing Chun since I was 15, and for two years, I also practiced Filipino Martial Arts (Modern Arnis). Martial arts are more than just a sport to me—they’re a passion. But don’t worry, I’m also a peaceful soul who loves the tranquility of nature. Whether it’s hiking, camping, or simply sitting under a tree with a book, I feel most at home outdoors.
I’m passionate about traveling and find it fascinating to explore new cultures, meet new people, and discover new countries. My side job helps me see the world as well: I install plant decorations and festive Christmas setups on cruise ships around the globe. Maybe I’ve even been to your city!
If you host me, you can expect engaging stories, a dose of northern German humor, and plenty of laughs. I love connecting with others, whether it’s about movies, literature, sports, or life’s big (or small) questions. Who knows? Maybe I can introduce you to the world of martial arts or share some quirky mushroom facts.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and having a great time together! 😊
Best wishes,
Jan

Music, Movies, and Books
I can't say exactly what my favorite music is because it depends on my mood. But I've actually discovered a good song in every genre. German folk music is the exception.
The genres I listen to the most are, roughly speaking, Spanish music (salsa, Reggaetón, rumba, rap, corrido,...), English/American rap, psychedelic rock and occasionally techno.
When it comes to books, the genres that grab me the most are fantasy, science fiction and thrillers. One of the best book series for me was “The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams or the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The stories I have experienced in my life, my knowledge of biology and martial arts. But I am also just a good company for a party or for a relaxed evening at home where I can cook something.
