About Me

Hey everyone! I'm Kobi - I'm born and rasied in NYC. However, the last 6 years I've been living in Europe - in the tiny country of Luxembourg. I just moved back to NYC at the beginning of 2023. I've been backpacking around the world for the last year, which is why I haven't logged on in so long. But now that I'm back in NYC with my own place, I want to help other travelers coming to NYC!

Although I've been a neuroscientist for the last 10 years, my passion is learning and practicing speaking different languages. I love to travel the world and meet people to speak as many languages as I can, and learn about different cultures and points of view.

I live in one of the nicest and safest neighborhoods of NYC - Forest Hills, in Queens. It's ~25 min by metro to Manhattan, or 15 min by train.

I have couch surfed many times, but I had to create a new account because I don't use the old email address anymore and I couldn't log in.

I prefer to host only 2-3 nights during the week (Monday - Friday).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I often find that travel blogs mention the same sites and touristy places to visit. I prefer to avoid the tourists and meet locals and to get to know their favorite places where they live so that I can experience what the locals like!

For example, as a New Yorker, I'd never tell you to visit the empire state building, or Times Square, or any of those places. But I would tell you to visit my favorite, less-known spots in the city, for example, Roosevelt Island (in between Manhattan and Queens) or many places in my home borough of Queeens - the most international place in the world!
