About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Lindsay! Born in raised in Virginia and have been residing in the Richmond area for most of my life. I'm an open-minded, creative, adventurous type and choose a positive outlook on life.
Meeting new people and sharing experiences is what makes this girl tick!
I love to travel and spend a lot of time outdoors. I catch live music/performances often, and keep an open mind in terms of learning and experiencing new things.

In terms of work, I tend to wear many hats. I’m a working artist with a focus in ceramics and spend most of my time creating and selling work and teaching classes. Check me out on instagram if you’d like @lindsaywoodceramics.
I'm also a part time bartender at a local brewpub and consider myself a beer enthusiast. I enjoy learning and talking about craft beer and have some brewing experience under my belt.

PHILOSOPHY

Never stop learning. Always stay curious.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few folks in the past. My current living situation isn’t suitable for guests, however. When I traveled to Germany, I used the "Hangout" option and found it to be an incredible and fairly easy way to meet and array of different people. I am definitely looking forward to using that tool during future travels!

Interests

Exploring the outdoors and admiring nature. Going to concerts and getting lost in music. Cooking and trying new foods. Meeting new faces and creating memories. Finding new ways to enjoy life and love. Ceramics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I thoroughly enjoy a good movie. Dramas, comedies and horror are my favorite genres but I’ll watch just about anything that is thought-provoking and has substance. I love films with an unconventional plot and foreign films have peaked my interest as of late. Some of my all time favorites include Harold and Maude, The Bird Cage, Dead Poet’s Society, Bladerunner, Amelie, Big Fish, Julie and Julia, and more.
I also enjoy documentaries of all sorts, especially ones about different cultures, food and social causes.

I wouldn’t consider myself an avid reader, but I’m working on that. I've taken a particular interest in self-improvement books as of late, but still love to get lost in a good Sci-fi or lighthearted novel from time to time. I'm currently reading "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert A. Heinlein, "Daring Greatly" by Brene Brown, and "Kitchens of the Great Midwest" by J. Ryan Stradal.
I love podcasts! Because I work with clay, my hands are typically muddy and this is a great way to get my content fix. Some favorites include: The Daily, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Modern Love, Death, Sex & Money, The Moth, WTF, Limetown, Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations, This American Life, Ted Talk Radio Hour, etc.

Music is the strongest form of magic. I frequently attend live shows around my city and sometimes travel elsewhere. My taste is across the board-metal, punk, r&b, hip hop, jazz, funk, bluegrass, rockabilly, post rock, instrumental, the list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I vacationed in Iceland for the first time last October! Exploring the Golden Circle was a truly surreal experience. Visiting the waterfalls, beaches, mountains, glaciers, etc. was so humbling. Reykjavik was fun, easy to navigate, and well-kempt. The people I met during my stay were very warm and inviting, and can we talk about how amazing the drinking water is there!?
The world is a beautiful place and I'm grateful for my time spent in one of the world's most beautiful countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that sharing stories and learning from others is essential to the human experience. I enjoy hearing others opinions and life experiences, as well as sharing my own. I'm a very open-minded individual and am eager to learn just about anything. Some of my favorite pastimes are connecting with a fresh face over a good meal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, a mutual desire for learning and adventure, and information about my city and culture.
