About Me

Hungarian programmer, currently living at my home town with my extended family, my parents, siblings, and nieces scattered around the area. Always happy to meet new people. I was born and raised in Zala, Hungary, and lived there for most of my life so far, with a brief periods of living and working in London, and in Horsens, Denmark, to help finance my studies. I have a BsC in computer science(mostly datawarehouse work in my diploma), and I'm interested in the stuff, but somehow this isn't the thing that defines me most accurately. I have all sorts of interests, perhaps too many for my own good. I love animals, especially dogs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the kind of travelling when you put arbitrary restrictions on what you can spend on, because this not only doesn't make it worse, somehow it makes it better for me. I've recently done a long hitch-hiking trip without smartphone navigation, which meant depending on other people for every piece of what makes the actual trip. (transport *and* navigation, it was summer so I could wild-camp) It's not the first time I've done this. While I'm an introvert by heart I find it brilliant and liberating to talk to people, and it fills me with energy. At the age of 31, I've never tried couchsurfing, and I feel like this is missing from my life.

Interests

Well, the flying stuff I've only tried briefly, but when I can afford this I will definitely do it again. Also, I haven't climbed in ages. I'm shitty at drawing. The other stuff listed I do diligently, though. If your chosen sport needs a helmet to do, I'm probably happy to try it. The stuff what I know nothing about but I'm excited about include literature, theater, linguistics, mathematics, meteorology and the awesome work that goes into predicting the movement of air, history(this one is new and amazing for me), architecture. I'm almost but not quite a straight-edge person for some reason, while I'm at ease with others doing drugs and alcohol and anything else, I'm just not that interested in it.(except when beer is the only thing worth ordering)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've surprised my family on Christmas Eve 2009. I was studying in Denmark at the time, and it just didn't make sense to and go home for December 25th just to be having to fly back straight after, to take my exams in January, the end of which I was supposed to move back home anyway. I didn't arrange any transport because of this, but on Christmas day I had different thoughts, so I hitchhiked 1600 km in 24 hours, and got home. I will never forget the expression on father's face when he opened the door.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well...I would say whatever I've read any given week. There are so many mind-blowing things in the world. Sounds like such a cliche, I know, but it's truth. My Hungarian is also pretty spotless.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't know what's supposed to be in this part of my profile, but I can chop the onions, I am a clean person, and I'm happy to pop out to the shop if we're missing some mushrooms from the soup.(or anything else for that matter) If you are not a host, but you are still reading this, first of all: thank you, second, I'm happy to meet up with members of this community, if you are in my area we can take the family car and go hike around.
