Overview
About Me
Hello, dear host, please read my profile. I’m opening my heart and sharing everything about myself with you.
My name is Rafael, I am a Brazilian production engineer who has discovered a deep passion for hospitality and human connections, which goes beyond my professional background. My journey has been shaped by transformative experiences and a love for sharing moments with others. I began my path as the owner of an artisanal pizzeria called Raízes Pizza, where I learned the joy of bringing people together through good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Later, I ventured into adventure tourism, working as a guide in some of Brazil’s most breathtaking regions, exploring nature while sharing stories with travelers from around the world.
Today, I run Refúgio Raízes, a student accommodation space in Salvador, Brazil. It is more than just a business – it’s a place where I strive to provide guests with a true sense of home. Much like Couchsurfing, I believe hospitality is about genuine and enriching exchanges. Through my experience with Refúgio Raízes, I’ve learned the value of trust, shared living, and taking care of others in meaningful ways.
My journey with Couchsurfing began thanks to a wonderful German guest I had the pleasure of hosting in Brazil. She introduced me to this amazing community and is now hosting me in Germany, reinforcing my belief in the power of global connections. I am a curious, open-minded person who loves sharing stories about my culture, cooking Brazilian dishes, and discovering new places with fresh enthusiasm.
I would be incredibly grateful if you, Couchsurfing hosts across Europe, gave me the opportunity to share moments and experiences with you. I am confident that I can contribute with engaging conversations, positive energy, and a cultural exchange that will enrich both our lives. Thank you for considering opening your doors to me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because It fits perfectly with me and we can explore the world through the eyes of locals and not just as a tourist and build genuine connections based on trust and hospitality.
Interests
I’m passionate about cultural exchange, adventure, and hospitality. As a guide in Brazil’s stunning natural landscapes and the host of Refúgio Raízes, I’ve learned the value of sharing experiences and creating connections. Couchsurfing is a natural fit for me, as it embodies trust, openness, and the joy of meeting new people. I look forward to contributing with meaningful conversations, Brazilian culture, and a spirit of curiosity and gratitude.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most incredible milestones in my life was graduating as a production engineer, a journey that required resilience and determination. Shortly after, I pursued my entrepreneurial dream and opened an artisanal pizzeria, Raízes Pizza, which became a cherished space for community and connection.
Later, I made a bold decision to trade the comfort of the pizzeria for a life of adventure. I traveled across Brazil as a tour guide, exploring breathtaking landscapes, immersing myself in nature, and living through some of the most exhilarating—and occasionally dangerous—experiences of my life. From navigating remote trails to sharing unforgettable moments with travelers, these adventures shaped my perspective on life and deepened my appreciation for human connection and the beauty of the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I’ve spent my life learning how to adapt, solve problems, and take care of myself. Living away from my family since I was 18, I’ve mastered the art of doing a little bit of everything—most of it self-taught. Whether it’s cooking delicious meals, fixing something around the house, or offering great company and stories, I’m always ready to contribute.
I can share Brazilian culture, cook traditional dishes, help with practical tasks, or even just bring a positive and respectful energy to your space. My goal is to make every stay a mutually enriching experience.
