About Me
Hey, there!✨️
I'm Violeta and over the past year I crossed 2 continents by land, hitchhiked for 10,000 km and cycled for 1,200 km through the length of South Korea and Japan!
*** My Journey So Far ***
...It's been such an incredible one - I crossed the US east coast to west coast by land for about 5 months, then I crossed Europe from Italy all the way to Svalbard (the world's northernmost inhabited area) which took another 5 months, and then, I also cycled 1,200 km across the length of South Korea and Japan.
*** My Current Project ***
I'm currently preparing the next couple of thousand kilometres cycling trip that I plan to start in January. Until then, I thought it would be quite cool to do something like a little tour of my new guideline that I wrote. It started as a very practical guideline with my personal rules while hitchhiking solo, born from experience, + my infinate love for Couchsurfing. With time, it evolved into something like a letter to my younger self who was so dreaming about travelling but didn't know how or where to start, and I included some essays and my lessons from the road.
So at the moment the plan is to hitchhike from Berlin to Paris (maybe through the Netherlands and Belgium) and give cozy talks in local cafes, cycling clubs, university clubs, bookstores, libraries, hostels - share some of those lessons, answer questions, and just share a bit of that beautiful experience with locals.
*** Host Ask & Logistics ***
So let me know if you would like to host me for a night or two - this would be incredible, and it is precisely you who make all of this possible😊 I'm super flexible and unpretentious when it comes to sleeping arrangements - I can stay even on the floor or snuggled in the corner as long as there is a big warm blanket:))
[As a quick working note - I've been financing my trips so far by giving online Math lessons for about 3 days a week - let me know if you know of any quite place (preferably with WiFi) around! Once again, the floor or the corner works perfectly fine as long as it is quiet😄)
Super excitedly looking forward to your answer!!
Best, best, best, best,
Violeta
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It seems more exciting to meet people this way, but also Couchsurfing is the thing that makes it possible to travel safely on a budget.
It's incredible how far you can go just by sharing. I absolutely love sharing when I'm hosting myself, but also, it's so sweet when people that host you want you to experience life through their lenses. On top of that, I would have never met the people who inspired me to travel myself if it wasn't Couchsurfing on the first place.
I absolutely love this platform and community 🥰

Music, Movies, and Books
I mainly listen to jazz (Lizz Wright, Melody Gardot, Madeleine Peyroux), blues (Hugh Laurie, Alberta Hunter) and swing. Also a bit of classic guitar, folk music. I am also a big fan of Guano Apes which are my "must-have" while snowboarding, and Maneskin which is my eccentric pop-self.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, that's definitely not that amazing, but it's a highlight of my life - I ran 100 km (~62 miles) in 18 hours when I was 15.
Teach, Learn, Share
Looking forward to sharing moments😊
