ABOUT ME

Retired from a federal civil service job as a writer and photographer. I'm often in Europe or Latin America. Before retirement I've lived in Belgium, South Korea and Germany. I have been living overseas for most of the past 17 years, so I'm more European than American.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I find that with couchsurfing you're no longer a tourist if you connect with real people. I've lived and traveled overseas for many years and I love experiencing new cultures. Couchsurfing allows me to become a temporary native of your city.

Me parece que con couchsurfing no eres turista,porque compartes tiempo y disfrutas de la generosa hospitalidad de los residentes del lugar. He vivido y viajado al extranjero durante muchos años y me encanta experimentar nuevas culturas. Couchsurfing me permite ser un nativo temporal de su ciudad.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in several German and Spanish cities. I've hosted several couchsurfers at my former home in Chicago.

The arts, travel and photography. I'm a Chef and foodie. Museums are nice and should be on any tourist itinerary. However, I would much rather go to a market or grocery to admire the wonderful things on display. I've been known to smuggle a few of those nifty foreign goods back home. They become the kind of souvenirs that keep on giving memories with every meal that I prepare.

Mis pasatiempos favoritos: Las artes, los viajes y la fotografía. Soy un chef y un foodie. Los museos son agradables y deberían estar en cualquier itinerario turístico. Me encanta salir a los supermercados para apreciar tanto la comida ,como especies,de la region. También adquirir souvenirs,para tenerlos en mi casa para recordar siempre esos maravillosos lugares,asi mismo uso en mi cocina con frecuencia las especies que con sus sabores y olores me llevan emocional y espiritualmente a esos lugares llenos de magia y que hacen parte de su cultura y su riqueza gastronómica .

I like just abut any genera of music except rap. Books? Anything by Dean Koonz, James Elroy, Dan Brown and Stieg Larsson. Movies: Action thriller, Sci Fi, and just love the montage scene in Disney's Up. If that scene doesn't bring a tear to your eyes nothing will. Matter of fact I love that entire movie!

Me gusta justo tope cualquier género de música excepto rap. ¿Libros? Cualquier cosa por Dean Koonz, James Elroy, Dan Brown y Stieg Larsson. Películas: thriller de acción, Sci Fi, y me encanta la escena de montaje en Disney's Up. Si esa escenas no trae una lágrima a tus ojos nada lo hará. De hecho, me encanta esa película entera

In my former career as a photojournalist with a major wire service I met and photographed many heads of state and celebrities.
