My name Is David and I'm a 20 year old German boy, currently travelling through Australia together with my beloved girlfriend Maraike.

We have been starting our journey in Melbourne and worked ourselves up the east coast to Sydney in a Van.

We are a young energetic couple, we love to meet new people and getting in touch with new cultures, traditions and more.
Since we are from Germany we are open to tell you more about our culture as well and love to cook some German meals or living some of our own traditions with you if wanted.

Interests

David:
In my free time I'm a passionate lifeguard for the German lifeguarding services and have provided supervison at public pools and the beaches, as well as being a swimming teacher for little kids.
If I need to rest I grab my ukulele and play for a little.

Maraike:
My biggest passion is playing handball. I've been playing since I've been 6 years old and I still love it so much. In Germany handball is a very big sport with so many clubs and teams and although there are just 4 women teams in Australia I can play here too.
Back home I did a voluntary year at a handball association and became a handball coach too.

My parents are playing in a marching band since I'm a little kid and when I turned 14 I joined them and it is so much fun. I love it to make music with my friends.

And when I need to chill, I like to sit down and just doing my crochet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
If it comes to music we are listening to nearly everything! And I mean it. However most of the time we actually listen to the latest pop or your favorites playlists

Books:
David: right now I'm reading a book called "cancer the king of all Diseases" which basically tells the story of cancer in detail.
Other times I love to read fantasy books like the hunger games.

Maraike:
During Covid I turned into a very passionate reader. I read 2 books per week and couldn't get enough of romantasy stories. Today I read about 1 book per month but it is still all about romantasy. Actually I'm reading a book series named "kill the queen" it's about a woman that becomes a queen unexpectedly and must assert herself against her enemies. Always having the neighboring country's prince by her side.

Movies:
we are about to finish the whole marvel storyline and look forward to watch Series of films like StarWars and Harry Potter again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

David: When Maraike turned 20 in September, we went to the AFL Grand final festival in Melbourne, had a bar crawl that's same night and the day after visited the silver circus, that has been by far one of the best memories I have made here in Australia

Maraike: We feed kangaroos in a wildlife park on Philip Island. They where very sweet and handsome. It took us some time to let go of them

Teach, Learn, Share

Besides that I dedicated my life to the study's of the humans body, my High School Certificate was Specializes in health education and I'm looking forward to either study Medicine or join the Paramedics when I come home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We passionately play card games, but are also open for other games in a game night.
Besides that we could cook some traditional German dishes and get in touch with German food.
If we live with you we are of course open to being a helping hand with Cleaning tasks and we aren't afraid to help out with difficult tasks, like To repair something
